Well folks… I may be a little crazy.

Then again, most good ideas probably start that way.

I’m excited to officially announce that Operation Cardboard Con is happening! Mark your calendars for May 20-23, 2027, in Kansas City, Missouri. Consider this your official Save the Date.

Right now, we’re talking with several local hotels to find the right home for the convention. As soon as we have everything finalized, I’ll share all the details.

Here’s what I can tell you today.

The dates are locked in, and we planned them with you in mind. If you can make it into town on Thursday, you’ll have a chance to meet up with other gamers, visit the outstanding National WWI Museum and Memorial, or catch a Kansas City Royals game that evening before the convention officially gets underway.

The gaming starts Friday morning and runs all weekend, wrapping up around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. The goal is simple. I want to create a convention where the focus is exactly where it should be… playing games.

Whether you love hex and counter games, card-driven games, operational campaigns, tactical battles, or anything in between, you’ll find tables full of games and people who are just as passionate about this hobby as you are.

This is the First Annual Operation Cardboard Con, and I hope you’ll be there to help us kick it off. There is something pretty special about being able to say, “I was there for the very first one.”

Over the coming months I’ll be sharing hotel information, registration details, special events, vendors, and a few surprises that I think you’ll enjoy.

For now, all I ask is this…

Save the date. Call your gaming buddies. Start thinking about what games you want to bring.

We’re building this convention for historical wargamers, and I can’t wait to see a room full of maps, counters, dice, and friends enjoying the hobby we all love.

What would make you excited to attend Operation Cardboard Con? Are there activities, events, or little touches that would make the weekend even better?

One thing I do want to stay true to is the mission of the convention. The focus is, and always will be, on gamers getting together to play games. Everything else is there to support that experience, not take away from it.
