I’m excited to officially announce that Operation Cardboard Con is happening! Mark your calendars for May 20-23, 2027, in Kansas City, Missouri. Consider this your official Save the Date.

The details are coming together, the hotel is locked in, and the gaming space is set. That means we can finally start taking registrations and getting this thing rolling.

Our host hotel will be the Best Western Kansas City Sports Complex Hotel. We were able to secure a fantastic room rate of $115 per night, and the location gives us a lot to work with. We will be close enough to walk to the ballpark, there is a restaurant on site, and there are additional places to eat within walking distance.

We currently have a block of 40 rooms reserved for Operation Cardboard Con attendees, so if you are planning to join us, make sure you keep an eye out for the hotel booking details.

Here is the current schedule for Operation Cardboard Con:

Thursday

A group of us will be heading over to the National WWI Museum during the day. If you are into military history, this should be a great way to kick off the weekend.

That evening, we are also working on arranging a group rate for the Kansas City Royals vs. Washington Nationals baseball game.

Do not worry if baseball or museums are not your thing. The game room will be available from 3PM until Midnight for anyone who wants to jump right into gaming.

Friday

Friday is all about gaming.

The room will be open from 7AM until Midnight, so grab a table, set up a game, find some opponents, and roll some dice. That is why we are here.

Whether you already have games planned or just want to show up and see what hits the table, Friday will give you plenty of time to play.

Saturday

Saturday brings another full day of gaming.

The room will again be open from 7AM until Midnight, giving everyone plenty of time to finish longer games, start something new, or jump into a game you may not have played before.

We will also have some giveaways throughout the day, so make sure you hang on to those raffle tickets.

Sunday

Sunday is departure day, but there is still time to get in a little more gaming before heading home.

The game room will be open from 7AM until checkout at 11AM.

Get in one last game, say goodbye to everyone, pack up the cardboard, and have a safe trip home.

This is our first Operation Cardboard Con, and the goal is pretty simple. We want to create a relaxed historical wargaming weekend where people can sit down, play games, meet other gamers, and enjoy the hobby.

No complicated schedule. No trying to fill every minute with activities. We want the focus to stay where it belongs, on the games and the people playing them.
